Brendan Fraser’s personal website is like a time capsule from the early 2000s

Prepare for a blast from the past.

The last ad on brendanfraser.com was in 2005, and most of its updates were around 2001. The flash website features the actor’s handwriting and photos, including a mirror selfie of Fraser with a film camera, on a vomit green background. The website is a relic of a different Internet.

The “curiosities” section features a handwritten welcome note (“Greetings Internet users!”) And the “bookmarks” section contains Brendan’s favorite places on the web. Few of the links still work, although the link to Google, included “just because …” does.

The “photo” section contains a few dozen original photos that open in a new tab when clicked. Some photos are from a trip to Vietnam in 2001, another album is “Quiet American”, and yet another album documents Fraser’s 1998 trip to Morocco. A Moroccan photo shows a young Rachel Weisz.

As it progresses, the “work” section gives a scrolling timeline of Fraser’s acting credits from 1998-2001, and “about” has yet another mirror selfie and personal introduction. The writing is divided into four acts, but in reality three, because act IV “is coming soon”. Any day!

Here is an excerpt from act 1:

Along the way, Brendan has developed insatiable curiosities to create images (he has become an accomplished amateur photographer), to travel to new places (he is a frequent traveler of the world who recently needed some extra pages added to his passport) and keep abreast of new art forms of expression (his limited free time is often spent in museums, theaters and galleries, or, yes… online.)

Maybe Fraser continues to keep the domain name – or maybe he really has is will add to complete act IV.
