Twitter offers several options to give you more control over your tweets. The company doesn’t give you a specific option to turn off comments, but there is a simple trick to doing so. There are also ways to hide comments if you think a certain response might generate a bit of heat. We also mentioned how you can opt out of retweets from those you follow.

Twitter: How do I turn off comments?

Step 1: When composing a tweet, you will notice an option at the bottom that says “Anyone can reply”. You just have to tap on it. This option lets Twitter know who can reply to your tweet.

Step 2: Twitter will then display three options, including “Everyone”, “People you follow”, “Only people you mention”. These are self-explanatory and do the same thing they say.

Step 3: Select one of these options and you are good to go.

To note: If you only want to select people to respond to your comments, you must select the third option – “Only people you mention.” This way, no one else will be able to comment on your post. If you don’t want someone to respond, you can just tag a friend who you know won’t respond. Once done, no one will be able to respond to your tweet.

How to hide comments on Twitter

Twitter gives you the option to hide replies to your Tweets and no one will be able to see them. Additionally, a Tweet author can post a reply at any time. The microblogging site says that when an author of a Tweet hides a comment, the author of the reply will not be notified.

Step 1: From a reply to one of your Tweets, just tap on the three dots icon.

Step 2: Now you need to select Hide Reply and Confirm.

To note: If you want to show your hidden replies, you will need to click or tap on the hidden reply icon, which will be available at the bottom right of your original Tweet. The tweet author can view replies through the hidden reply icon, which appears on the original Tweet when there are hidden replies.

How do I turn off retweets on Twitter?

Twitter allows you to turn off retweets for a specific account if you don’t like what they’re sharing. If you want to disable retweets from a specific account, follow the steps written below.

#All you have to do is go to an account profile page and tap on the three dot icon.

# Select Disable Retweets to stop seeing Tweets from this Twitter account. (IOS users can tap the gear icon, and both web and Android users can tap the overflow icon).

To note: The company says that “turning retweets on or off is not retroactive,” so you won’t be able to remove retweets that are already in your timeline.
